About Forest Grove Sanctuary : Where It All Began 🍓✨
Forest Grove Sanctuary was founded from the bond with two extraordinary companions. Our Maine Coon, Strawberry-Jupiter, inspired the creation of Jupiter’s Grove cattery — her grace, resilience, and gentle spirit became the heart of our vision for raising cats of health, strength, and soulful presence. Our wolf-like dog, Catori, whose name means Spirit, became the foundation of Spirit of the Forest K9s. Her loyalty, intelligence, and deep connection embodied everything we strive to nurture in our dogs.
Forest Grove Sanctuary is a family-run haven devoted to wolf-like dogs and Maine Coons. Built on love, respect, and intention, our sanctuary reflects our belief in ethical, boutique breeding where health, temperament, and soulful companionship come first.

By breeding only once or twice a year, we aim to produce wolf-like dogs and Maine Coons whose health, temperament & purpose make them ideal for loving homes — and, for some, as support animals in mental health and disability care.
Our Breeding Philosophy
At Forest Grove Sanctuary, our philosophy is built on respect, responsibility, and love for every animal we bring into the world. We believe breeding should never be about numbers, but about purpose. That’s why we only breed once or twice a year, giving us the time and focus to raise each litter with the highest level of care.
Health, temperament, and companionship are at the core of everything we do. Every pairing is chosen with intention — not only to maintain the beauty and unique traits of wolf-like dogs and Maine Coons, but to strengthen lines that are resilient, emotionally attuned, and well-suited to life in family homes. We work closely with our animals, ensuring they grow up in safe, loving environments that prepare them for the world beyond our sanctuary.
We also believe animals have a deeper role to play than simply being pets. Many of our companions go on to provide emotional comfort, stability, and even assistance for families navigating mental health challenges or disability needs. This is why we breed with the bigger picture in mind: creating animals who can heal, support, and bring joy where it’s needed most.
For us, breeding is more than a program — it is a philosophy of care, patience, and devotion. Every dog and cat that leaves our sanctuary carries with them not just their heritage, but also the love, spirit, and purpose that define Forest Grove Sanctuary.
Our Process: Ethical, Intentional, Devoted
At Forest Grove Sanctuary, our process is guided by responsibility, ethics, and devotion to every animal in our care. We believe breeding is not about numbers, but about shaping lives that will go on to heal, support, and enrich the families they join.
Our planning begins long before a litter is born. Each pairing is carefully chosen through health screenings, genetic testing, and selective matching to strengthen health, temperament, and purpose. We aim to give every puppy and kitten the best foundation for a long, healthy, and fulfilling life.
Once a litter arrives, we dedicate ourselves to the critical first weeks. Puppies and kittens remain under close observation for 6–10 weeks, allowing us to carefully monitor their growth, health, and emerging temperaments. Unlike many breeders, we do not rush the process.
Puppies are evaluated between 7–8 weeks, matched with their families by 9 weeks, and go home around 10 weeks of age. This is longer than many breeders, but we believe the extra time ensures each puppy is placed with the right family.
Kittens remain under observation for the first 12 weeks before we accept expressions of interest. They then continue to grow, socialise, and mature in our care, joining their new families at around 16 weeks of age. This ensures they are fully developed, confident, and ready for a smooth transition.
We approach placements differently by allowing time to truly understand each animal — their personality, strengths, and needs — so that we can carefully match them with the most suitable homes. Our priority is not simply finding families quickly, but ensuring each companion thrives for life.
Our commitment to our animals doesn’t end once they leave us. If for any reason a family can no longer care for their puppy or kitten, they are always welcome back at Forest Grove. We will either provide them a home here or support their family in finding a safe, loving new placement. No Forest Grove companion will ever be without care or belonging.
During their time with us, our puppies and kittens are raised in a family environment, with daily handling, socialisation, and enrichment that prepares them for the world beyond our sanctuary. By the time they leave Forest Grove, they are not only healthy and resilient, but ready to form deep, lasting bonds with their families.
For us, each placement is not the end of a process, but the beginning of a lifelong connection.
